Who we are
The Trauma Healing Network was launched in September 2012 as a Bible Engagement Project of the Bible Society of Namibia to empower the community. We focus of traumatized people (both adults and children), with the aim to bring healing and to equip them with skills and knowledge in dealing with trauma more effectively. We have a team of facilitators all over Namibia en even across our borders in the SADC region.
Why do we exist
People in Namibia often do not receive effective help because support services are not readily available and often are not affordable to everyone either. The most important goal of the Trauma Healing Network is to cultivate a community which is not only able to handle their own trauma effectively, but can also form a mutual support base.
What is our dream
Our dream is to have well-trained facilitators all over Namibia, who can serve the community with trauma healing and the skills to be prepared to handle trauma more effectively from a Biblical perspective.
The THN method
Our program is simple. We bring groups of people together in a safe space where a facilitator can help them to move towards healing. It is a holistic and Bible-based program to helping people to understand that trauma affects every part of their existence: mind, body and spirit. During the lessons we use art, stories, activities and questions to help people engage with themselves, with the Lord, the Bible and with others.
Our materials
Our materials are based on the Colour-Me-Healed concept that contains a set of practical lessons that lead people into a journey of healing. The Bible plays a core role in our process. We are using different colours to help a person to move forward in their healing journey.
